OCD & Anxiety Specialist
Transcending fear and chronic self-doubt in 12 sessions.
I’m Laura, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Registered Dance/Movement Therapist. I specialize in empowering clients to take courageous action in the face of chronic self-doubt.
Growing up in small town Central Illinois, I remember riding bikes with my friends and not setting foot inside again until the street lights came on. Later, when I got my driver’s license, cruising the countryside, with a view of cornfields and prairie for miles and miles. As a young adult, I moved to the big city of Chicago and quickly fell in love with the neighborhoods, the pace, the art, the culture, and not-so-much the parking (I’m sorry, I will never be ok with “dibs” in the winter!) And while I still call Chicagoland my home, there’s a great comfort in knowing that I can still see clear skies for miles and miles if I close my eyes.
Unbound Counseling Services blossomed from my personal (and ongoing) journey of becoming unbound— from trauma, unfulfilling relationships, toxic work environments, and long-held stories that no longer serve me. It emerged as a beacon of liberation, symbolized by my (attempted) mastery of aerial silks and the lyra, defying gravity, and leaning into the art of release. The therapy modalities I offer my clients, ERP and ACT, directly reflect these themes of embracing fears and letting go. At the same time, our 12 session treatment model is designed to maximize relief and minimize the time you spend in therapy, getting you back to the people, places, and passions that bring you joy.
What would you love to have more of in your life if fear and doubt weren’t holding you back?
The world needs more of what YOU have to offer. Let’s clear the path of anxiety and doubt together (with a little help from evidenced-based therapy). Becoming unbound is a process, a unique journey filled with twists, turns, and triumphs. Imagine a life where liberation is in reach. What if it’s possible and you don’t have to figure it out alone?
Our Clients
While our clients are diverse, each with their own unique stories and struggles, they tend to have one thing in common: feeling like worry and self doubt are running their life. They’ve tried explaining their symptoms, only to be misunderstood, dismissed, or shamed. They may have been told, “just relax and stop thinking about it,” “it’s not that big of a deal” or even less helpful, “you’re just seeking attention.” In response, they may feel like they have to hide part of themselves or wear a mask in fear of judgement. In the meantime, managing their symptoms has become a full-time job, leaving little time and energy for the people, places, and passions that are most important. Some may have felt this way their whole lives, while others may be experiencing the feeling for the first time.
Our clients are motivated and ready to make a change - they are students, artists, parents, caregivers, educators, health care and business professionals—all with high stakes reasons for doing and being their best. Some may be silently battling their intrusive and unwanted thoughts, while others are exhausted from wearing a mask of perfection.
Our clients value privacy and a personalized therapy experience. They are seeking a genuine therapeutic relationship with a practitioner who sees them for who they are: a human being doing their best in a society that pathologies normal (albeit unhelpful) responses to stress and trauma. They want a therapist dedicated to their own well-being who has the capacity to deliver their best every session.
Whether you have been diagnosed with OCD/anxiety or are just beginning to explore the possibility, we are here to support you with proper diagnosis, treatment, and compassionate care. If you have tried therapy in the past without the lasting results you hoped for (or maybe things got worse), know that you haven’t failed therapy- the therapy may have failed you! It’s time to match your efforts to feel better with a treatment that is proven to work. It's also never too late to seek help for the first time, and we are here to teach you the tools that you can use now and for a lifetime.
Your journey is unique, you are capable, and we are here to show you how to break free from OCD/anxiety and get back to living your fullest life.
