ERP + ACT THERAPY
Grounded in research, tailored to you.
As an aerial arts enthusiast, I’ve often found myself in awe of how physically strong aerialists have to be in order to defy gravity while making their craft appear effortless. Similarly, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) are strong in evidence based practices, while remaining flexible and adaptable to real-life experiences. At Unbound Counseling Services, we understand (and celebrate!) that you are more than a diagnosis. As such, you need an effective, customized treatment plan designed to address your unique journey, strengths, and goals. What would defying OCD and anxiety look like in your life?

OCD, also known as the “doubting disease,” is a common chronic disorder that affects about 1 in 40 U.S. adults during their lifetime, with females having a three-times higher rate of occurrence than males.
While cleaning, rearranging, and hand washing are most frequently associated with OCD, there’s much more to it. Intrusive thoughts can sound like:
What if I’m in the wrong relationship?
What if I hurt myself or someone else?
What if I develop an illness and die?
What if I’m wrong about my sexuality?
What if I deeply offend someone or God?
What if I get sick or get someone else sick?
Maybe even taboo thoughts related to sex or violence that feel too distressing or embarrassing to share?
Sometimes, OCD isn’t a thought, but an urge. A need to do or feel something “just right.” This might also feel like the need to follow rules to an impossibly rigid extent.
Compulsions are how we cope with these distressing thoughts. They can be physical, like checking and rechecking, repeating actions, seeking reassurance (Google much?) or avoiding triggers. They can also be mental, like rumination, checking, replaying, self-reassurance, and avoiding thinking about distressing thoughts.
Unfortunately, the relief compulsions provide never lasts, while the anxiety and compulsions continue to grow.
Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) therapy can help you stop the cycle. It’s all about facing your fears in small steps while resisting the urge to respond. It’s effective, with most clients seeing significant symptom improvement in just 12 sessions.
If you have OCD or suspect you might, Unbound Counseling Services is here for you. We offer assessments, concrete tools, and personalized treatment plans to guide you towards freedom.

Phobias are intense and overwhelming fears that can really interfere with your daily life. Whether it's a fear of flying, heights, spiders, vomit, or something else, it's important to know that you're not alone in dealing with this. Therapy, specifically Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy, can be incredibly helpful in overcoming your phobia.
ERP therapy involves gradually facing your fear in a safe and controlled environment. By confronting your fear and resisting the urge to avoid it, you can start to retrain your brain's response and reduce your anxiety over time. It's a challenging process, but with the support of a therapist, you can learn to manage and eventually overcome your phobia.
If you're ready to take that step towards conquering your fear, ERP therapy can help you regain control and live a fuller, more fulfilling life. Don't let your phobia hold you back any longer - reach out for help and start your journey towards freedom from fear.

Anxiety is a normal and common emotion that we all experience at some point. It’s that feeling of unease, worry, or fear that can range from mild to severe. While some anxiety is normal and can even be helpful, too much can really get in the way of daily life.
Exposure Response Prevention Therapy (ERP) is a great tool for managing anxiety. It’s a systematic approach proven to work.
With ERP therapy you’ll learn new ways to cope and take values-driven action in the face of anxiety. In other words, do more of what YOU want and less of what anxiety tells you to do. A more fulfilling, peaceful life is within grasp.
If you are ready to make a change, Unbound Counseling Services is here to support you on your journey to freedom.
